FOR FIRST TIME IN SHAPING HISTORY...
A BLANK THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO GIVE A CONSTANT FOUNDATION FOR A SURFBOARD.

INCIDE blank cross-section

Renowned surfer and shaper, Dan Mann, has developed a high tech blank with a carbon interior part that gives the shaper and ultimately the surfer infinite control over the flex of the surfboard. Think of a snowboard inCide a surfboard: all the magic and flex of your favorite board with faster recoil that lasts.

The Brain

...is designed to maximize and control the flex of the surfboard in a carbon structure that functions independent to the shape and thickness of the board. Until now, the structure of a surfboard has been reliant on the wood stringer, an unpredictable organic material, that eventually breaks down over time. With INCIDE's patent pending technology, 'THE BRAIN' improves the properties of a wood stringer, enabling 'fast twitch' flex from carbon fiber to be tuned independently from the design of the surfboard prior to the board being shaped. Read more about why this is important

Carbon

Carbon is the foundation for all organic matter - it is manipulated into strands (carbon fiber) then woven into a cloth which we use to create 'THE BRAIN'. Five times stronger then steel, two times as stiff, yet weighs two-thirds less, this ultra high performance material translates into a more responsive and durable surfboard. Read more about how and why we use carbon fiber

Flex

Flex is best decribed as the way a board bends, then recoils as it comes back to static. The faster the recoil, the more lively the board feels. Feeling this response is what gives that magic board feeling. The key to INCIDE's blanks is that we have the ability to control this flex independent from the design. The Perfect Foundation

For The First Time In Shaping History...

A new canvas has been developed to give a constant foundation for a surfboard.
The result - a surfboard that will perform significantly longer at a much higher level

About

FAQ's

Will I plane into the carbon fiber brain?

Unlikely - the brain is suspended in a spot that is untouched by the Shaper 99% of the time.

Well - what if I do hit it?

Not a problem, as strong and durable as carbon fiber is - it can be cut with normal household scissors your planer will win and live to shape another rail.

Where is 'THE BRAIN' located?

The bottom of 'THE BRAIN' is flat - locate the center seam on the rail of the blank. All of the foam below that line, is ‘BRAIN’-less - shape away // measure an inch down from the deck - it too is ‘BRAIN’-less.
